As part of the international TRANSCODE conference, the Faculty of Transport and Traffic Sciences, University of Zagreb, is organizing a special student-focused event - TRANSCODE Youth.
This year marks the 2nd edition of the TRANSCODE Youth conference under the title “A New Era of Transport and Logistics.” Alongside students from the Faculty of Transport and Traffic Sciences, University of Zagreb, the event will also host students from universities across Europe, including:
The aim of the TRANSCODE Youth conference is to showcase the transformation of the global supply chain and highlight the challenges that hinder safe and efficient transport and logistics services.
The conference will combine virtual and in-person components.
During the virtual segment, students will attend lectures on pressing issues such as pandemic resilience, transport cost volatility and inflation, and the importance of building resilience against cyber threats in transport systems.
As part of the main TRANSCODE conference, students will also take part in the in-person component in Zagreb. They will be assigned tasks to prepare and present during this session. Each student group will work on a paper focusing on new ideas and solutions in the field of transport and logistics in their respective countries, or on their own research carried out within projects or doctoral studies. These contributions should demonstrate concepts and solutions that improve citizens’ quality of life while promoting sustainable and accessible modes of transport and logistics. In this way, students will be challenged to “think - create - present” their ideas and compare them with those of peers from different universities and countries. From an educational perspective, this approach fosters teamwork and enhances presentation skills.
Students will also attend lectures on digital transformation, as well as the rise of artificial intelligence, the Internet of Things (IoT), and big data, which are revolutionizing logistics and transport. E-commerce will be addressed through innovations and advancements in last-mile delivery, automation of processes, and solutions enabling fast, flexible, and traceable shipments. Sustainability and green technologies in logistics and transport will be discussed through examples of efficient supply chains aimed at reducing emissions and waste. The potential of autonomous vehicles and drones, particularly in last-mile delivery and controlled environments such as warehouses and ports, will also be explored during the in-person program.
In addition to lectures, students will benefit from networking opportunities through official visits to companies in the transport and logistics sector. Cultural activities will also play an important role, as participants will explore the city and enjoy a variety of social events.
